GoGuardian
This post is about a tool of my own interest. I mentioned this tool, called GoGuardian in my T3PP summary. Based on the conversations I have been having with my mentor, I feel this is a great tool for me to explore and share with future educators like me.
This is a tool that allows teachers to practice classroom management specific to the technology being used in the classroom. To view a brief demo of this tool click here.
GoGuardian Teacher is a resource to help educators manage their class while using technology. To read about key features of GoGuardian for teachers, click here.
With GoGuardian, teachers are able to view their students' screens in each class period.
When teachers click on one student, the image below shows the screen that is seen by the teacher. When looking at one particular student's screen, teachers can lock the student's device. In addition, teachers can close and/or block any site/tab they wish. Teachers can also chat with one and/or all students. Chat can be enabled and disenabled at any time. Teachers can also send announcements to classes.
This is what the student see when the teacher blocks a site, or closes a tab:
Here is what chat looks like:
Teachers can also create lists of sites that are restricted and allowed while students are in their classroom.
Here is the screen that displays what these lists look like:This tool can be used anytime technology is being used in the classroom, and it can auto-sync to Google products such as Google Classroom, Docs, Slides, etc. Therefore, this technology can be used for any event in the Seven-Event Framework. This makes this tool extremely versatile for educators. In addition, teachers at my practicum have reported GoGuardian is easy to use and learn. My mentor is a huge fan of this tool. The likelihood of me using this tool in my future classroom is very high. I find this to be a beneficial tool for instruction.
